Quiknit Profile

As a child, Charles K. Quick, Sr. watched his mother combing the cotton out of her hair, dreaming to someday own his own company. Charles grew up in a small town with his mother, three sisters, and one brother. The Quick family lived on the mill village and his mother worked at the nearby plant.

After serving time in the Navy, Charles returned to this same hometown working for a textile plant. He became a supervisor and worked hard to learn all aspects of the textile business. The road was rough and times were hard during his early textile days. Just like most workers, he had good years as well as bad years.

Dreams can come true if you set your goals and are determined in life to do whatever it takes to reach them. In 1986, he had the opportunity to buy three fringe machines from Cannon Mills. While working at a full time position else where, Charles leased a small area of a former Cannon plant and set up the three machines at night and on weekends.

His search for customers began soon afterward.

Can a young mill village lad become the owner of a fringe and trimming operation? Yes, dreams do come true.

Quiknit Crafting, Inc. was established in 1986 in Concord, North Carolina. It started with those three used machines and very little money but a lot of determination. The company has grown into a leading trimming and fringe manufacturer.

Charles Quick has purchased other locations. He named one of these locations Levie Industries, in honor of his mother who is now eighty-eight years young.

What does the future hold for Charles K. Quick, only time can tell? His hope is to pass the company to his two sons and that the company will continue to grow, adding to the economy as well as jobs for workers and dreamers, far beyond his own dreams.
